In December 2020, Russia exported about 2 million tons of sawn timber, with a year-on-year growth of 7.3% and a month on month growth of 44.1%. The value of exported sawn timber is about US $345 million, which is about 5.6% lower than that of the same period in 2019, with a month on month growth of only 6.4%.
Log exports exceeded 1.4 million cubic meters, a year-on-year decrease of 13% and a month on month increase of 5.6%. In terms of export value, it increased by 3.4% year on year and 55.1% month on month, reaching US $131.7 million. It shows that the export price of Russian logs will increase significantly in December 2020.
In December 2020, Russia exported 2.776 million cubic meters of plywood, with a year-on-year growth of 22.7% and a month on month growth of 21.6%. The total value of goods increased by 30.3% on a year-on-year basis to US $115.3 million, up 23.3% on a month on month basis.
The export of wood pulp was 226500 tons, up 11.4% year on year and 21.2% month on month. The total value of goods reached 106.5 million US dollars. The year-on-year growth rate was 38.9%, and the month on month growth rate was 28.6%,
The export of newsprint decreased by 36.1% on a year-on-year basis and increased by 5.2% on a month on month basis, reaching 69400 tons. The total export volume was US $24.4 million, down 40.2% year on year and up 6.6% month on month.
In 2020, according to the statistics of the federal General Administration of customs, the total export volume of Russian sawn timber exceeded 18.5 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 6.4%. The total value of sawn timber exports decreased by 4.2% to US $4.3 billion.
Log exports fell by 1.9% year on year to 15.6 million cubic meters, with a total export value of more than US $1 billion, but still 8% lower than that in 2019.
The export of plywood increased by 5.9% year on year, reaching 2.9 million cubic meters, worth 1.2 billion US dollars, up 1.5% year on year.
In 2020, the export of wood pulp will reach 2.3 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 12.9% and a value of US $1 billion, with a year-on-year decrease of 0.6%. The export of newsprint was 1.1 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 14.8%, with a value of 369 million US dollars, a year-on-year decrease of 34.9%.
